user added image you can call me a lazy mofo, but I find it so commodious that when someone asks you something your explanations are very detailed and peppered with screenshots, hehe!

EDIT: in my opinion the former version fits better. you don´t like to model the ears right?

Falott,

The reason I explain things in detail regarding maya, is because i've been there ( how dio I do that?) and i've done a shit load of research in books, websites, and help files (F1). So I know how frustrating it can be learning maya.

The ears are not easy for me, so no I don't like modeling the ears. But I have to if I want a realistic humanuser added image

don´t give up on the ear! it isn´t such hard thing. this was my first ear. well geometry is crappy but the result was fine for me. I used the createPolygonTool to paint the outer lines - defined the mayor lines then and finally pulled them out. modeling an ear is not as hard as everybody says.
