Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

replace object - Seems cumbersome in Maya

Hi,

A noob transferring over from Lightwave. Seems like most graphic packages both 3D and 2D have a simple "replace object/replace file" command.

Is there a command for this in Maya? There must not be because I just saw a long tutorial about how to do it. That's a command I use ALL the time, and in Maya it seems to consist of basically importing an object and copying over all the attributes and motion to the new object while deleting the lights that came with the object.

Am I wrong? How could Maya not have a very simple automated way to do this?
