Sculpt Surface tool won't sculpt

Hi guys, got a problem with my Sculpt Surfaces tool. I get the nice big red circle and set all my settings so that I can pull about my nurbs surface, opacity on 1 etc... and set to work. When I click on the surface the red marker vanishes and no effect occurs to the object.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Thanks for your time.

You might want to see how many isoparms you have to. From what i have found the more the better detail.. also which way is your red circle facing? is the little pointer going the correct way?
