blackening on some edges

hey, i'm having problems with some mesh where the edges are not shading properly. i've tried the following with no luck

1. exporting as obj and reimporting
2. deleting the mesh and recreating the same geometry
3. setting all to face then soften all
4. triangulating the quads that aren't rendering properly

maybe the mesh needs to be changed.

thanks!

I think this is because of your texture seams, I dont think that your texture map covers all of the face area, and you left some of it black, causing this proble. Can I see your texture map?
