Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

July/August - norm - Tweetytunes

Well I'm entering as a noob as it's my first competition, but I have just finished a B.A in 3d animation so may have to change it.

(Upgraded myself to norm)

My two words where fierce armchair (just my luck to have a strange one :shakehead)

My idea is to have some one playing a video game and is sat on the floor in front of the TV. Being pissed at this the chair attack from behind.user added image

I feel that a cartoony look is needed for this image and I`m confurdent I`ll gets this done

cheers

Another day another update

Heres the final look for the hair but not the final pose. I still have to re-shape the skullcape and place a boldness map on it but this image you can see the texture I was hoping for.

https://www.ravage3d.com/images/neils...r/hairtest.gif

I have also modeled the rest of the body (that is needed) and have been working on the t-shirt.

Cloth test

video link

Does anyone know how to stop the shaking of the cloth. It looks as if there is some relly ruff wind but I have added nothing

sorry - thats a good thing but I thought the site was gone for good and so I have slacked off on my project and checking out the mess that is Maya 8 (going back to 7 me think).

never mind need to give myself another little push. Finnished the t-shirt but the hair is causing problems and need to start on the background objects

Just so long as we can tell that the work is being done during the comp and wasn't done before or something. Other than that, it's mainly for your own benefit to show progress to keep people interested in your thread and to get critiques.

wow was not expecting this.
This is all my work and all of it is new.

These images are W.I.P just not grey background screengrabs. I like to post good looking images thats all.

Fact of the matter is I`m a fast modiler but not very good at everything else so that slows me down. Plz feel free to hunt down any of perious fread and have alook at how fast the modeling has been done compaired to the rest of the project.

Another member on this forum who I was at uni with can back me up about the speed of my modeling his name is Rostoons, but this seems a little over the top

I mean look at the chair its quite a simple model with a nice texture on it and some quickly modeled teeth and a tounge then rendered using final gather.
It still needs bump, spec mapping I need to make the tonge look abit slimey and want to add some serliver dripping of the tounge. Heck the yellow frame was only temp its going to have an oak like finnish to it.

And do you relly want to see another

"this is how I built his head"

I thought I wouldn`t post anything until I had something to show as I hate freads full of really crap screengrabs of a little tweak here and a little change there.

End of the day I know I can model but Im still not very good at things like Hair, cloth, lighting, textureing so I tend to post pics of my W.I.P on those parts of projects instead of the modeleing.

I sorry if anyone feels that my work looks surpisus.

I have got wire frame images which I`ll post up after I get home from work but these do not prove anything apart from I know how to screen grab.

Here we go
Not got that many for the chair as I have only really spent one day on it so far.

Chair W.I.P

The main body for the chair took me about 4 hours to model from a IkIA cat.

Smoothed it so it gave a rounded look to it

https://www.ravage3d.com/images/neils...ip_chair_1.jpg

Here is the UV MAp for the chair, not done the wood part yet but the yellow has already grown on me and might stay

https://www.ravage3d.com/images/neils...ip_chair_2.jpg

These are the teeth which is just smoothed cubes with pulled virts into shape, with a simple blin shadder applyed.

https://www.ravage3d.com/images/neils...ip_chair_3.jpg

At mo its also rigged ready for posing.

WIP Man

Low rez head with wire frame

high rez

low rez ear

https://www.ravage3d.com/images/neils...r/wip_man3.jpg

Man with body, T shirt and head
The head is not attached yet and the body is not uv maped or textured.

https://www.ravage3d.com/images/neils...r/wip_man4.jpg

This is how far I got with the UV map so far. I use the pelting tools to start with but then manully tweak it to hell

https://www.ravage3d.com/images/neils...r/wip_man5.jpg

The next job is to uv map the rest of the body and texture it and the t-shirt. The game pad is also modeled but is currently on my laptop which is at my sisters so you`ll have to wait for that. Also working hard on sorting out the hair as I`m having problems recurating the style above.

I`m hopeing this answers all questions about my work. Plz forgive the spelling mistakes as I`m majoraly dislexic

Cheers
