i dont think u can keep it from inside the boat (cant u use a false floor to hide the water)

you can't make the boat collide with the fluid?

from what i know u add a collison under the fludis it looks like a shpere in curves aparent it to the boat an it will create wake ect
also clikc the (under ocean not ponds) boat an click make boat then this will give u optins like pitch rool an speed
to get spray from the boat u need to use particles
or at least this is what i do

thanks neostrider and pbman

I'm looking into those options now.
I'm finding out some helpful things from your suggestions, but it's slow to learn from just the help files in Maya.
I'm getting some of it now, but have just been looking into it for a day.

I'll keep updating as I go.

I forgot to post the buoy that I made on friday, so here it is (untextured)

Looks pretty good to me! It DOES bring the words "small craft advisory" to mind, however! :-)

an update.
(heh... I figured I might as well make it an actual sinking boat at this point)

textured the buoy
used the boat locators to make the buoy and boat actually "float" on the water
added some mountain cliff background
gave the camera a little tilt

and... here is a short (2 sec) ANIMATION

great animation:bow:

I would however make the water a little darker it's to bright in contrast to the setting.
And if i look at your animation it looks like a windy day try to make the sail bulge in and out a little(wave deformer perhaps?) to add realism.

edit;
Maybe you could prevent the water from entering your boat by duplicating the boat scale it a little bit up make this your collisionobject, and turn off the visibillity

Niice

Nice M8. Very nice. I like the fog, and the angles you produce.

I´d really like to model the pirate ship. But I'm a student (aka poor as ****)

Just one question.

Whats your Computer Specs.

How long did the render take user added image ?

(that's 2 questions i know..)

I think you should add in a couple of clouds. The sky seems a tad blank.
