Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Seam when merging vertices

Hi there!

I am modeling a dinosaur at the moment but when I attach the limbs to the body by cutting the required hole in the body and then snapping the vertices to each other and merging I get an obvious seam along the join.

Is there a way of removing this? I have noticed it also shows up when rendered.

Thanks in advance!
Simon

Smooth the normals of the object with an angle of 30 degrees and this should cure the seam problem, if you still have a seam check that the normals on both objects are facing out in the same direction and if not reverse the normals of the object that is different so they match.
