Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Selection Question......Beginner

Dear Sirs,

When I select, for instance, a single vertice, the surrounding vertices become selected in diminishing degrees as they get further away from the one I want to affect. They go from yellow, the one I wanted in the first place, and gradually shade through orange to red to purple. This also happens with hull selection and I believe with edges too. Can't seem to find the setting to put Maya back to normal selection mode, including restarting. I am a two month in beginner teaching myself so would really appreciate the tip here.

Many thanks, Stretch.

vay kind of you.

you are in soft selection mode. push "m" i think, or search in the help for how to turn it off.
