muscle question?!?!

ok soo heres my problemuser added image
i've created a 3 joint chain then converted that to a muscle/bone then made a muscle between the first joint and the second joint.. and the muscle interacts right just between the joints or muscle/bone thing..haha.. i sound like a noob.. but then i create a poly cube and extrude it along the joint chain and smooth it twice.. then i apply a muscle skin deformer to the cube.. then select the muscle and the joints and use the connect selected muscle objects action.. and the poly cube which is acting as a skin doesnt interact with the muscle.. i have been working on this all day and i've gotten it to work twice but now it wont workuser added image ... please somebody save me from this muscle crisis!!!user added image thank you..

check the connection editor and make sure the muscle is hooked up properly. I havnt used maya muscle much but the muscle skin node must accept multiple shades as inputs, sounds like the muscle isnt being connected up as one.
