Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Edge finding shader for maya?

Hi,

does anyone know of a shader for finding edges in maya, or way to use a pre-existing shader for this task? Something for example that can find convex (or concave too) surfaces and shade them accordingly.

One that's compatible with renderman for maya would be even better user added image

thanks,

gubar

The only thing I know to select convex or concave is to use "poligin selection constraint on face" I know its not a shader but you might be able to wright a little script to get it to work............dave

Thanks for the replies,

nextDesign that one looks like what I'm looking for, thank you. Thanks too Dave, what I'm after though is a shader that can find edges for adding chips and scrape damage etc procedurally,

cheers
