Another update, just carefully re looping the panels, the green is done. Still need to separate a section just forward of the wing (where the 5 sided poly is atm)

That is a very big ask jimz66 just the modelling would brake down to some thing like 6 to 8 hours am I wrong Jay..................dave

Possible more mate at this level. When you think Im given two weeks on a film model, thats eight to 9 hours a day just modelling one model for photoreal...a big task...thats why we keep the tutes to a certain time or even as volumes, as it can really go on and on....we'll see. I still have another volume on the creature to do very shortly then rig it

Jay sorry man I just want to learn this stuff so badly and I haven't been able to really get started. So I was thinking for DOWN THE ROAD so to speak... The Stang is one of my all time fav's and would love to do one as well...

I think this one would be too complicated to make into a tut Jay, its a lot of work man. As you said its a personal project so time is not an issue. Have you tried Kurts Spitfire jim? that would be a better option at this stage depending on your skillset. That is an all round aeroplane tut that would give you a good start to follow Jay.

Just sort of show how to do each piece, the basics at least, a bit about how it all goes together, something on detail work, etc. Would be easy to keep it under 2 hours or so, and could still fit in enough information to be helpful for someone looking to model aircraft to this extent.

Yeah I like this approach. Let me have a think about it. As I said Im busy with a new volume for the creature at the moment. Then we have something else lined up which is pretty advanced and in depth.

Jim, no need to apologise, we know the frustration you have, we have all been there, and still are there in some cases...For now check out the Spitfire as mentioned by Bullet...it will get you on track for sure to building aircraft user added image then once you have it sorted then you'll be able to do it on your own without guidance.

If it helps, the new panels on the P51 here were made from the intial shape that I'd done previously, then I basically cut in the extra geo to the shapes of the actual panels then deleted the unwanted faces and tidied it all up back to quads. Being separate panels they didnt have to match each separate panel, as long as the shapes were correct and fit nice an snug...job done!!

Jay where did you get that image you started with? I am having trouble finding images of items to draw... I would love to know where to get the right type of images to start with. That too would be a big help.
