Thanks for the reff arran! That gives me some ideas. I visited that link you posted before I entered this challenge; very nice stuff. I want to stay as close to my refference pic as much as possible, but will have a steampunk flavor to it. This is a pin-up after all, and I don't want to loose the sex appeal to it.

Right know I'm workig hard on the materials ( almost finnished though ). If they are not done right the detail will not show up very well. I will have modeling WIP's posted here very soon, as we only have a month on the modeling.

EDIT: I am still very aware that we are not allowed texture at this stage of the competition, not even for fun. So the materials will not be shown until the second part of the contest if we are still allowed to.

Looks good!

Just a question, when you model a bady with limbs, is it best to make the model have their arms and legs stretched out? Most of the WIPs I have seen here is doing this way. Would be nice to know before I start modeling the limbs on mine user added image

The T pose as it is known is modeled because if you intend to rig the character for animation , it makes the process easier and helps with better more predictable deformations when the joins are rotated.

Ok, I understand, however you will have to learn rigging before you can get the limbs in the position you want, correct user added image ?

is it hard to learn rigging?

yes in order to pose the character it really needs to be rigged and skinned although you could in theory move the componets to pose it without rigging but I wouldn't recomend it as it can cause all sorts of problems.
I would suggest you become confident in modeling before trying to learn rigging.

Sorry THX for hi Jacking the thread....very nice start on your model btw.

if you have questions about something, try to post them in your own thread, or in a question thread of its own. Unless you have questions about THX's model, then feel free to post here. user added image

Looking good, THX!

That pose is called "The Vitruvian Man" and was first drawn by the renaissance man Leanorda Da Vinci.

If you guys don't have questions or C&C's about my model, then DON'T post here. I do not want my challenge entry thread turning into a gossip zone. Please take it some where else or I will ask Mike to delete your posts.
