Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

I'd prefer to see different designs, especially considering the goal is to create your own dino and not one based on reality. user added image

Eh.. ok. I understand I guess. I'll change my model to something different to conform to the rules. I do want to finish this model first however because I can't just throw away ideas I have on a whim. meh... I feel less motivated now though because the model is worthless in the end. *sigh* oh well...

Past few days have been CrAzY because of homework from college and my sleeping schedule is way off, but I finally have some time to model some more, so I'm gunna take another wack at it for the next few hours starting. I dunno why, but I always seem to want to work in Maya when I'm dead tired. It's 6am right now here in Atlanta.

Changed the curvature of the thin skin parts of the wing and gave the wing bones a slight bit more thickness in certain places to give it more body.

Split the tail. I would make it longer all together, but then it might resemble a dragon too much.

Did the hand... My thoughts keep going back to the hands the giant demon has in Fantasia, so they might resemble them in the long run. I can't really remember exactly what they look like though, but I don't want them to look too much like human or dino hands. Lots of muscle in them I suppose is the look I want. I'll add more detail after the first smooth hopefully.

Joined them, and this is what it looks like smoothed. I tweaked the arm a little more.

Added an eye, eye socket, played around with the mouth a little, and added nostrels. So far seems like I'm keeping to my original design. The nostrels are deeper than they appear in the picture, but the lighting isn't right so it makes them look shorter. :\ I'm gunna have to play around some to fix that I guess. The mouth is also messed up because of the lighting. It's not NEARLY as flat looking on the inside as it looks.

Added more detail to the stomach and chest sections. During this time I had a CRAPLOAD of history on my model from all the extrusions and vertice tweaking, so when I set the normals to faces (EditPolygons>Normals>SetToFaces) Maya froze up temporarily. I was freaking out like nobody's business because I couldn't remember when the last time I saved and figured I would have to reboot Maya. ugh...
