Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Back to the topic of shadows, I am pretty sure there was also an option to control how much shadow each object produces, or how much of a shadow an object accepts. Was it shadow attenuation? Pretty sure it had the word "attenuation" in it, but using that from materials doesn't seem to affect anything.
