MUZZLE FLASH

Hi Guys,

I'm currently working on a animation which involves a guy firing a big gun, but I have no idea how to make a muzzle flash.
It could be in an easy way by putting a transparent fire texture onto a plane, then animate the plane appearing and disappearing, but again I have no idea on how to do this on the time line.
If anyone has any ideas or knows how to make a muzzle flash, I'll be grateful if you let me know.

Cheers

well, you could keyframe a glow effect, maybe a sphere with glow on and "hide source". and you can keframe the glow.

I haven't used them before, so I may be way off the mark, but I would have thought that you could make the flash using particles...

I suggested glow cuz it would be the easiest method.

Particles like smoke, fire, etc would make the most realistic way, but you wouldn't probably use many for a game.

Thanks Guys,

Thanks to you, I have a better idea of how to execute a muzzle flash in my animation.
As soon as I get my project and presentations out of the way I will post up my fist character animation movie.

Cheers

Oh by the way here’s a poster of my characters in my animation.
Let me know what you think of it?

Cheers

pretty good, but the textures look a bit fuzzy... are they jpg's? if so use tga's.... if not, just increase the resolution.... otherwise they are good.
