Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Curve snap...?

Anyone know if there are some good tweaks for curve snap to make it work better? I mean it has the possibility of being super useful...but 9 times outa 10 just doesn't work.

or is there some sort of mel script out there that works better than the default?

It probably works fine. It's just not obvious as to how you use it.

Select the object/component that you want to snap. Hold the C key for "curve snap" (or toggle it on at the top of the UI). Then MIDDLE click and drag on the curve.

sorry i think i was a little too vague

the tool seems to work just fine when it is dealing with actual objects...however the problems I have with it occur when i am trying to snap cvs to a curve

The only constant is change...

Damn, I remember this.
This was a painful.

Anyway here's what I do.
Turn on curve snap.
Select the cv you want to snap.
Drag it near to the curve you want to snap to.
Then.. see the little box at your cursor? Make sure it contains the cv and the curve and left click. It should snap.

Hope that helps

oh, make sure that your move tool is set to World and not Object or something.
