Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Ocean + displace

Hey all,

I'm trying to do this shot where I have a heart shaped displacment in the ocean. I was trying to use Maya's Ocean, but I cannot figure out a way to add a bitmap displacement on top of the Ocean displacement. I've tried Layered textures, and Layered Shaders but to no avail. Can anyone think of a way to combine these effects?

Because of some of the close up shots and the angle of my camera, I cannot use a bump map or some 2D tweak. I have to displace the geometry within the ocean.

Thanks,
-dann

try takeing the outputs of the 2 bumps and run them in to a blend color node. take the out of that and put it in to the bump on the shader...
