Rendering changes smoothness

Right now I'm working on a model of a head. I've been editing it with the smoothest setting displayed (hotkey 3), but when I use the IPR render preview tool, it shows the model in its rigid non-smoothed form (hotkey 1). I read some solutions that talked about the mental ray editor, but I don't know enough about this tool to know what I'm doing. Needless to say, I'm completely new to rendering..

I'd like to know how to have the model rendered in its smooth form with IPR rendering.

switch to mental ray and then create your IPR frame again

the smooth preview is a render time smoothing which software renderer can't do

each time you change the smoothness preview, though, you have to redraw your IPR frame

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"
