Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

You're making me want to model my old access virus b desktop synth. Looks really good...especially dig the buttons and keys shading.

dude that is really awesome!
i like the buttons and how they clearly aren't flat and are kind of curvy.

is the lcd panel meant to be on the same level as the keyboard's casing? (or raised off slightly as it seems)

i thoguht it would be slightly indented down, but then i don't know what this keyboard is meant to look like

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Looks incredible but as Chirone said the LCD display should be pushed in so you see the lip around the edge. Doing that would make it perfect.

Great Job.

The LCD is one of the things I don't like about the render. It actually is a bit below but since it's on it doesn't recieve any shadow. It looks better in other renders. Here's a few small ones.

Actually I think this is as final as it gets... did you have anything special in mind composite wise?

i was thinking of something simple, but professional looking,
like the stuff on the maxwell render galleries. maybe you can submit it to the galleries.
a simple composition will be effective i think, since this is already photoreal.

the usual product rendering type of comps.

nice work man. keep it up. you should do some interior acrh type of renders.

Thanks for the criticism,

I use Maxwell Render for this. It's an "unbiased" renderer., the big advantage is that you dont have to fiddle so much with render settings. There almost aren't any. You put up the lights and everthing pretty much is calculated based on real physics. So you can concentrate on the model and the materials. The materials settings differ quite much from "normal" renderers.
