In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Another way of making the body would be to draw the outline of it using curves, then bevelplus to create the depth. I've tried that with a les paul shape before and you can get fantastic results in a matter of minutes (including the bevels where the sides meet the face and back of the guitar and the smoothness a curvy guitar needs). Just another technique to add to the maya tool belt. user added image

round out the body more. Too angular. I would add about 2 extra spans in the sides and pull them out slightly to give it a roundness, then smooth it and it should look really nice. user added image

Update. Finally. Redid the body, using BevelPlus. Awsome tool. Very under-rated. Thnx Nitro for the info and all on it. Only thing to model is the strings. Its all Sub-D's now. user added image

Quick texture job. Gotta make some adjustments. Plan on making the fretboard a darker wood, and make the inlays white. Make the pickups, machine heads, pickup selector, and maybe the volume/tone knobs chrome. Suggestions?

sounds liek you already got the plan. I think the hard parts going to be making it looks laquered.

Made the changes I mentioned. Hows she look? Except for the tone/volume knobs and the not so shiny body?
