Soft Selection

Hello all, I am new to Maya and to this board. I just have a quick question.

Does Maya have a feature similar to 3ds max's soft selection?
To those who are unfamiliar with 3ds, you use it to select and manipulate vertices, and then it will also select vertices close to the ones you selected and manipulate them to a lesser degree.
