gum or similar effect

Hi,

I need some help with an idea I have. How can I set up a scene where a character has bubble gum which has got stuck to the bottom of his shoe and when he lifts his shoe, it is still sticking to the floor? Does anyone know how I would go about creating the gum and how I would animate it when the shoe is being lifted?

Thanks,

I would create my gum shape, and fit it with a lattice. Then I'd assign each row of points on the lattice to a cluster, and animate the clusters to stretch the gum.
