Particle Glow

i have a small animation, i have a curve, and 2 emitters, i have an emitter which flows along the curve which releases sparks = i want these to glow

the i have another emitter which goes along with the other emitter but the particles stay to the curve ie speed = 0. how do i make the particles of the second emitter on fire, eg i want the particles that stay on the curve to look like fire,

if i didnt explain that too well here it goes:
i have writing, the emitters go along the curves and relesase sparks and i want the writing to look like its catching fire.
thanks
