Maya particle events??? Like Pflow?

Is it possible to construct event nodes for particle systems in Maya? I thought this was meant to be great FX software but particles seem very weak, when it comes to setting up systems

i.e...I want rain to fall and hit a sphere..after I want it to travel along sphere surface..after 5 seconds, I want the particle to fall to the ground below..once ground collision happens, I want it to emit 5 other particles from itself
