Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Few questions about particles

1. How can I reset the initial state of particles after I've set it with Solvers -> Initial State -> Set for Selected?

2. What kind of things can I still change after I've created a disk cache for a particle system without recalculating the cache again? Maybe per object attributes but not per particle attributes?

There's a script called removeInitialState.mel v1.0 on Highend3d.com, which is supposed to remove the initial states of selected particle objects. It was written for version 1.x though. It might work on later versions. Or, there might be a more updated script out there.

Thanks, it worked! Had to hit the rewind button to see the effect though...

Any ideas on the other question?

I'll see what I can find out, but I imagine that things like color or opacity could be changed, though I haven't tried. I'm guessing (and I emphasize GUESSING) anything that affects the particle behaviour (speed, rate, direction) would have to be recalculated.

I'll post again once I find something more concrete.
