See why you were asking about the knobs.

What you planning to do with the models?

I think that the headstock on the gibson could do with a bit of a tweek as there mainly not really that shape.

Looking forward to seeing what you do.

hopefull texture them to a decent standard .

im ok with painting maps but i cant handle UV mapping - drives me insane

with the spitfire im hoping to animate - i have a messerschmitt model that also needs texturing to go with this. im gonna use fluids for the sky and clouds - a bit iver kill but i wanna learn how to use fluids

the headstock - good eye i can see whats wrong with it but i think u have spotted something else
to me there is an extra bit(at the neck bolt cover) that is flat and shouldnt be there so it is a little longer than it shuld be
but i was too lazy to fix at the time as it meant i had to adjust the strings and pegs.
do u have any decent front on and side on view pictures u could sent me as all mine are angled so i culdnt get a nice one and i hadto butcher a couple to gether in PS resulting in that headstock problem (i remem u have a LP copy even if u used reference from that it would be nice)

thx

Dude nice gibson, and a nice start on the spitfire too.

Theres an artists display of 'oversized' Gibsons (about 9 feet high to be honest) along the Thames near the HMS Belfast. They are all painted in the theme of bands or singers and are signed by the musicians themselves, except the dead ones like Marc Bolan.

If I remember tomorrow morning I'll grab some pics on my way into work and post them here for you to see..

Cheers

Hey Man

I think that the knobs could do with a bit of work shape wise, Are they speeddials, If they are then have a look how there made as they are 2 parts of sorts, there plastic with quite a thick clear overcoat on them. (if you can go into a guitar shop and have a look as its pretty hard to see them on a reference picture.)

I'll try and grab some photos of my guitar, its at my parents at the moment. Heres some good reference

https://www.gruhn.com/features/LesPaul275/EB5770.html

you can see the shape of the headstock on these pretty well which should help upi out with the overall shape, as well as some nice pics of the body etc etc

gster123
it was the back shot of the headstock that confused me
a third of the wayup needs to be widened and then a curve after that to the top

knobs- its been awhile since i last played a Les Paul i though the knobs were like that
i have found the two different knob types at a spare parts online store
here

i was going for the top hat style

i think i will have to take a trip up to denmark street now
may be a week or so though - may go up with a friend who is planning on splashing out £1000 on an ESP or LTD (big metal fan)

thx guys will post up my attempt at the headstock later

eddit:Jay i notice ur a mod could u add '+ guitar' onto the name of this thread plz
thx

Hi,

It's been a long time since I posted something in this forum. user added image
Now I hopefully have enough time to post more here.

Your guitar looks good pbman. But the shape of the headstock should look like this, if I'm not wrong.

edit: here's a picture I found: https://www.maartinallcock.com/Gear/L...0headstock.JPG

Yeah, it's getting better.
But the headstock looks a bit thin. Or is it just the perspective? Would be nice if you posted a sideview of the headstock.

The headstock must be curved more as I've drawn in the picture:

Your Spitfire model intrigues me is it the one from the training DVD?

Did you model it with polys then smooth it or convert it to sub-ds?

I have a Hurricane model that I haven't finished, since I don't quite know how to, at a similar stage to yours you see.

Tickety boo and ta ta for a bit...
