Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Which order should things get done?

ok I am brand new to Maya and currently modelling my first ever characters.

So far I believe I need to model, rig, animate and texture. Could someone advise if this is the correct order to do things? Am I missing anything out?

I don't want to spend hours doing something to find out I should have done something else before it! Thanks in advance for the advice...

The most efficient order to do things is....

Model, Texture, Rig, Animate.
