Added engine thrust fire and some slight exhaust trail. I think I'm pretty much ready move on to the next shot. Bare in mind that this is half resolution and pretty heavy compression...

Yeah, I think it's the compression plus the fact that these are half of the original resolution... I'll post a still frame from each shot when I get them done... (I'm working at 1024 x 576 frames)

awsome man! Im curious as to how you animated all 3 planes the same. Did you ghost them or something? To add abit more excitement, you should add some actual music. I suggest Top Gun. user added image

I animated one plane (using the mocap technique described earlier). Then made two instances with point and orient constraints (with offset). Added some variation to the duplicates via expressions. Finally I baked everything and offset the keys a bit in the graph editor...
