Choose Edit Polygons. There are a few tools you can use in here such as Poly Split, which lets you draw edges where ever you want. Subdivide basically creates more edges everywhere.
Thanks for the replies, besides the split tool, going from one line to another and another...until you revolved and hit enter, is there another tool that i can click once and revolve once and split the face?
