Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Well.. the colors dont effect it at all as they will all be changed later... But for some reason the "Transformers" Style motif seems to inspire me more than random color selection. And shows me how things tie inuser added image... And yeah, red and white are cool. I was also thinking a White and blue. And a Black and yellow... Or pink and purple.

I belive the legs done. However i had to alter the foot to make it proportional. However i might goback and redo the foot.. as it was the firt maya object i have ever made.. went back and saw it had many problems i woudl not make now...

But heres the Leg.

update.. finally made a duplicate of the leg. took longer than i thought it would.. seeing as i had to select each main object and duplicate it then move.. luckily there are only 9 main things.

Working on the waiste/crotch section as for my plans.

not much activity in this thread.. but none the less. a new post.

I finished the Waist/Crotch area. however it did not come out to my satisfaction AT ALL. So i will be redoing this immidiately instead of after i finish like im planning on redoing the feet after completion and editing the legs aswell... However this cannot wait because the new design i have planned for the chest would not be compatible with this design.

So what do yout hink for the short time it will be there. (i may keep the "Crotch" peice midbar. But not the "skirt" armor.

Okay, the waist is much more simplified and trying to connect the chest to the waist with a semi spinal column. Right now trying to figure out how to connect the chest to the spine... but here goes.

Not bad for a noob. I would add one more light and change the background to a gray so it is easier to see though.

Rick:If i new how to add lights and change the backdrop that might be easily doable.

Hybrid: Yeah, cant go wrong with classic transformers style coloring.

Pony: Try and update every day, but dont think i will be able to today, as i have to get up early tomorrow, had people over all day, and now have a really bad headache..

So your only update is to look for future updates tmorrow howfully.

Yea, I like the color scheme cause its the colors of my old school user added image Red/White/Black user added image

Every school ive ever been to has been Blue and gold. Balston Spa, Lake george was silver and blue... but close. And QBY is Gold and blue.

But yeah. Red white and black do look good. But allans making a blue and gold mech.

Sorry this is one big ramble. ill go work on the mech now.

Okay. Im failry close to my schedule now. Just finishing up the core. But im tired and can finish it in the morning after a few more tweaks. I think it came out better than i expected so far.

Okay, my core update. Going to do the head, then redo the legs/feet/

(i was planning on doing the head and arms then redoing the legs, but the legs and arms usually have similar designs, and i am going to redo the legs in another design... so should get the design set before i redo the arms...

Well it makes sense in my head.

Head update. It looks a little big, but i decided to keep it that size. The necks really bland... Just a subd cylinder... but i really didnt have many ideas for what to put there. i could pull off some hydraulics or something. But im getting quite bored with this project and would like to move on. but i have seen a steady improvement in my models, so yay.

All thats left is the arms, and im thinking of slapping on some gun arms and maybe edit the textures a wee bit and call it quits.
