UV map making problems

after finding the help files, i've come across a problem i cant find within them, & i spent several hours trying as best i could to figure it out...
user added image

so... how do i make the wheels and all the other tiny parts that are everywhere, use just one piece of the skin instead of all these separate parts? this is all so confusing to my mind.

thats what UV mapping is, arranging The UV's to make it usable when texturing. the only thing you can do is move the UV's around until it looks like how you want it.

Perhaps this tutorial helps
I don't know whether it covers every aspect of mapping, but I found it very useful user added image

Well that will be useful, the current one is for 3.0 and isn't very in depth, currently I'm stuck on adding the AABBs to the model, how many are needed the tutorial doesn't say....

Yes you are right there Dunkel the AABB is an axis aligned box. Really though you should only make the AABB once u have checked the models size in the game or else you will have to resize the AABB along with the model. Oh and concerning the tutorial I tried to go as much indepth as I can on it. Should be ready this week , you can also contact me via MSN.

If Tanks crashes it doesnt necessarily mean there is a problem with the model. My Russian SU-34 ground attack aircraft has about 9000 poly's and when I exported it properly tanks "OVERFLOWED" but when I opened it in resource editor everything was fine. Half the work of making a new unit is coding it in the resource editor.

Also remember to triangulate and have AABB present when exporting or else you will have more work and it wont export. Hope that helps and tutorial is coming along fine its quite length as well.
