Making a clip out of animated fur

So I animated a mustache on my character for him to "talk." I set the autokey and tweaked the roll, polar, base curl options at different keys. I would like to make a clip out of this so that I can repeat it when he's talking and be able to leave spaces in the trax editor when he's not talking. However, I get this error when I try to make a clip:
Code:
Error: No animated channels on the selected object(s).
Any idea how to get around this? Maybe there's a better solution.

Thanks,
Stu
