Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

selection colour
i was making this model and i must have clicked something by accident but whenever i select something, instead of just a green border like before, the whole object turns bright white. it really hurts my eyes. could someone please tell me how to change it back? thanx a lot.
