Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Where To Start....

Alright, since everyone (all of the web) has just great things to say about this place and about Maya.

Where do I start? Some of the tutorials I found here seem very advanced.

I am a complete beginning - Yes, I realize that there is more to being an animator than good with the software, but I (like many hobbyist) want to get my hands dirty.

Which tutorials should i start with? Links, please?

Any thoughts or suggestions for a complete newbie?
Thanks

Hi and welcome to simply maya!

right pop along to the free movie download section here: https://www.simplymaya.com/vip.shtml

grab the shark modeling tutorial! its a nice easy one to get you started, mayne then try the simple man.

If you are ready for more then download the hand tutorial but it is fairly advanced compared to the shark

They are some helpfull tuorials in the tutorials area and then if your still busting for more then read this https://www.simplymaya.com/payment.shtml and join up to the VIP area.

There is an easy house tutorial and an even easier tie fighter... well there not dead easy but im a good instructor user added image

any questions then ask away!

get right into the basics

i suggest play around with maya a bit... make objects... use vertexes's, faces, etc.. then check maya's docs... go through the tutorials so you get a basic idea on modelling... then come here and use the free tutorials and then go for the vip if you want.. got great ratings of the tutorials there... thinking of signing up too.
