Question about HDRI and Final Gather

Hi,

So far, almost all models of mine were low-poly models, because I wanted to get into game industry.

u can see them at my website

I used only regular maya lights, and maya software render. Would It matter if I showed MR or HDRI renders of them eventhough It wouldn't look like those renders if implemented on a game?

Or would I be fooling any recruiters by making my renders better even though models are the same?

I haven't touched MR much. What is the difference between Final Gather and HDRI? Is it almost the same thing except HDRI used HDR image for lighting where as Final Gather uses and entire scene as light source?

If so.. how do I make an HDR image? Thanks.

Will someone please answer this guy!

someone out there must know the full answer.
I have only tried HDRI once bubbleme80, i was just playing about with a tutorial on it, what i gathered about HDRI is indded what you thought, it just uses a HDR image to light the scene - it can give some very realistic effects but it seems a bit of a cop-out since you have to have a HDR image that suits your scene.

Is it possible to make HDR images from your scene? i also know little on the subject but i think you deserve an answer to your question.
Come on guys, i know there are some bright sparks lurking on this forum!
