This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

That can't be possible! The two biggest competitors in 3D software...

From the Alias website it sounds like Max/Maya will remain separate products, but developed by one company.

I don't know if this is good or bad. I used Max a while back before I switched to Maya.

i´m a max user...i come in peace! user added image

i don´t get it either! haven´t read all the press stuff but how can it be possible to develop two 3d-packages simultaniously?!

how about merging them together so that each benefits from the strenghts of the other?

Yeah, I'm not too happy with this turn of events... guess we'll wait and see. Maybe we'll someday all be using Myax Studio Tools or something. :p

Sigh...

regardless of what autoddesk sais, it doesn´t make sense to develop packages that are in some kind of competition w/ each other!

"After the transaction closes, Autodesk plans to continue to sell all of the
products CURRENTLY offered by both organizations."

don´t know...but i also think

guess we'll wait and see

maybe some maxa or maya studio or whatever will someday follow... user added image

I was just about to post with a topic title of: "Oh Sweet J****; F*** That..."

Did they mention the acquisition of Wavefront?

Edit: https://images.autodesk.com/adsk/file...ternal_FAQ.pdf

Maybe I'm just cynical -- but:

Alias brings new capabilities in 3D design to Autodesk and expands Autodesk’s ability to provide customers with unparalleled choice in selecting solutions that are right for their needs.

Isn't the best unparalleled choice in selecting solutions -- um... market competition?

How can this be, since when do democrats and republicans sleep together, country and rock sound alike, BILL GATES AND STEVE JOBS BECOME CO-PARTNERS? What has this world come to?

PS. I really dont know what this will mean for maya, does anyone else have any specualtions?

BILL GATES AND STEVE JOBS BECOME CO-PARTNERS?

Exactly the analogy that struck me...They have repeatedly cited that they will continue development and sale of both products, but they also mentioned releasing a suite...I really can't believe this sale has officially gone through though!

maybe some maxa or maya studio or whatever will someday follow...

Aye, the Simply3DWorld crew better start buying domain names before I snatch it up and demand 500 free points! user added image Won't see any major changes for a while though, obviously. But it will be interesting to see in like a year or two where we are at.

I --really-- wish Steve Jobs would have tossed some Pixar $$s at Alias WaveFront to buy 'em.

Think of it this way -- Pixar would have saved a LOT of money with their PRMan.

P.S. -- I wonder what'll happen to Okino.

Actually Autodesk already does this... AutoCad, 3dsMax, 3dsViz.

Corporate bullshit...

I think that Autodesk is one of the most arrogant companies out there. And we have seen Autodesk killing good software before.

This makes me shiver...we're all going to collapse our modifier stacks pretty soon...or so.
