Took a break from modeling to mess with a render. I was aiming for a soft look so I pulled down the reflectivity of the car paint, and blurred out the reflections. I added a little too much shader glow, and may have blurred the reflections a little too much, but anyway here is a first cut for a paint test.

i had to make the same car in 4 days last week for school project.
of course yours looks totally more accurate. and i totally could not figure the patterns for the tires and the rims.
and i still cant find refs of the grill on the top of the hood.

Yeah, gonna take my time on this one and get it looking real. I have a bunch of animations in mind, and intend on doing a lot with this project. My goal is to approach the quality of the attached image. Now that car looks REAL!! Check out that website, it has some of the best quality hard-surface modeling I've ever seen. And if you have around $5000.00, you can buy their hardware renderer to bust out high quality images like that at blistering speed user added image I can dream anyway.....

Hey dilberts,

Your car, to be COMPLETELY TRUTHFULLY HONEST already looks better then MOST of the completed works at that site.

I looked at their benchmarks, rendering an image in their renderer on their chip in 17 mins compared to Mental Ray's on a leading Quadro FX which was... about a sixth done in 48 hours.

WOW

I want one :p

Don't talk to me about World of Warcraft. One of my good friends can't be bothered to get a programming job or even play any RTS or FPS with his mates any more cos hes playing with his new friends. Which he hasn't met I might add, at WoW.

I mean Jesus Wept! I mean I use to love playing Neverwinter Nights but I didn't forget that there was another life or other friends.

Quick update. My strategy for this car is to get the entire "basic" shape, and then go back to each panel, rim, window, door etc., and spend a good deal of time getting them accurate. There's a bunch of stuff I'm already aware of that's wrong, but comments are always welcome.

my SINGLE critique is that there is a very slight, i mean real tiny lump, right on the outside edge of the light facing us. thats all

very tiny lump, barely noticeable

but I LOVE your model so far, its sooo damn amazing!
