Stagebeats Logo

Hi all...

I recently made a video logo for a UK DJ business called StageBeats Entertainment. It is a simple 30 second promo to be played on big screen projector before gigs.

As I did not make a WIP for this one - I'll just show the seperate elements involved.

3D text element

The DJ also wanted his logo added to this video. Although I tried to model this, I unfortunately kept banging up against my huge lack of talent. Luckily for me, MasterYoda took pitty and came to the rescue

Here is the logo as made by MasterYoda (awesome work mate)

All I really did to the logo was add a slight edge bevel....

Video is now complete and can be found here:

I am very sorry about the file size, but this download is widescreen DVD quality MPEG2.

Below is a reduced screen capture showing all elements combined.

All comments are welcome....

I love the logo thing...but do you think that you should smooth out the text part? It looks a little rough on the edges...it might make the reflections in the chrome look a lot better...

You're right esion. I had a lot of trouble with the 3D text on this one (mainly due to my inexperience with Maya). Evertime I try to create text with a curved bevel, I get flat text face with a curved edge. I really wanted to curve the text face so as I was running out of time and still had a lot of work still to do with the particles and composition, I opted to manualy curve the geometry (hence the rough edges).

If you have any suggestions as to how i could get a nice curved text face - please let me know!!

Looks real good, but in my opinion a few crits/comments.

The text and the logo look a bit "blockey", To be honest I would have gone with NURBS to do this to get a nice smooth logo and text rarther than polys (think the logo is a bit blockey because it looks like it was created using boolians that dont give a nice smooth, smooth (if that makes sense!!).

The fluid "Ball of fire" at the start looks like it might need a bit of a tweek in the opacity setting as the smoke trail dies off.

good work man!

Was the Star Treck transporter style fade in of the text done using the cyclore plug in form after effects??? I've got it but never tried it yet.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments gster123... I completely agree with your take on nurbs v's polys. Nurbs will be my weapon of choice next time user added image

The transporter effect is made with a cool little 2D particle FX proggy called Particle Illusion (www.wondertouch.com) . Great and fast way to add particle effects in real time.
(pitty I not getting paid for that shamless plug :p)
