This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Kurt,

Nice job on the model. Matches the design sketches very well.

Only comment is on the poly count. I think your model is well over 3000 polys. In general, when people ask for poly counts, they're asking for the number of triangles in the model. In Maya, a poly is a face, which can be made up of more than 1 triangle (1 side of a poly cube is a face, but it is actually 2 triangles). You have a lot of quads in your model, and Maya registers those as single polys/faces. Triangulate your mesh and you'll see your face count go up. That will be the correct poly count (triangle count).

Everyone confused yet? user added image

danny ya I know about the true face count, that one is all quads, I have a tri one thats under 3000 faces i will put up soon. The one above when coverted is just under 6000 faces.

0I like my quads better than tri's=)

I figured you already knew that. Just wanted to make sure though. The teacher side of me just can't shut up sometimes. user added image

Welcome to the wonderful world of low-poly modeling. Gotta love those tri's!

oh good kurt, if your model as shown is at 6000 faces, then i dont have to worry so much that mine looks so bad. but i have no idea how to model tris, and actually dont know how to model quads yet - so i will learn quads - and just triangulate my 1500 quads in the end.

but i look forward to see your tri model.
