wood floors

First of all, Im a newbie.


Im trying to make decent looking wood floors for a room using the Wood preset texture but it ends up looking like crap.
Ive been playing around with the attributes to no avail.

any suggestions?

Best off using a wood photo texture and then map this onto your floor (take a look at my les paul in the WIP, shameless plug I know but thats how I did the floor)
