maya to 3dsMax

i have been using maya for 4 years now,always had problem in terms hardware inefficiency...am running maya on a core 2 duo intel processor with 2gb ram.but it never since to be enough for maya, especially when working on a big scene.dont know whether to upgrade some more or purchase a new pc which since impossible at this time.want to move to 3ds max,learnt it requires not too much hardware to run it.need some advice concerning both... :bow:

Where are you having bottlenecks or slowdowns? Viewport lagging? Rendering slowly?
If your viewport is laggy, what graphics card do you have? That might be the easier/cheaper option. Since there's a new generation coming into the market presently, this past year's cards should get quite cheap relatively soon.
Just an idea.
