Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Extruding a Plane Surface

--Posted on behalf of a member please help him out guys.

Extruding a Plane Surface

After manipulating a plane surface with several faces, then extruding one edge or several edges to continue, then extruding the whole plane surface, I get 2 exact plane surfaces instead one plane surface that has been expanded by width.

Oddly enough, the extrusion does work on occasion, if I select the edge or loop circle the edge(s). But then, some parts are extruded correctly and other parts again are mirrored without width, when of course the goal was to create a manipulated plane surface of exact width throughout..

I know a quick simple solution for this problem would be to exclude the primitive plane surface first by whatever width of my own choosing, but I would like to know what is going on here. Seems my "preference settings" are a little out of whack.

Please inform.
