Vertex Merge tool issue in Maya 2012

Hi everyone,

Sometimes, when I merge vertices in Maya, some random faces disappear for some reasons (see attachements). It never happened to me before... Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug in Maya 2012?

Thanks

Chris

The only suggestion for that is you have a piece of bad geometry that causing the issue. I had a similar problem and had to delete the effected area and find the faces causing the issues and delete them.

It happened due to a poor extrusion on my part. Once I deleted the effected area I was able to rebuild it cleanly with the Append to Polygon Tool.

This happens in 2011 as well. Fix it by just re-applying the shader.
