This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

New Tutorial: nDynamics and Fluids - Bombing Run

In this Maya 2011 / 2012 tutorial aimed at intermediate Maya users we're going to take you through the process of creating explosions using Maya's fluid and nparticle systems.

We'll cover managing multiple fluid systems mixed with multiple nparticle systems to create the effect you can see on the video below.

We'll also cover instancing geometry to particles and Maya's displacement to polygons with history, as well as take a look at the 3D fluid texture node to achieve live displacements, transparency and bump mapping. Finally we'll use the auto-resize feature of Maya fluids to speed up the simulation time and then tie the whole thing together with MEL script. [View tutorial]
