The first thing you'll need to know is that UV layout is not an automatic process. What you're asking for at the moment is something akin to asking for a program that will model for you. A stretch; but both of them are skills that you need to develop. Even when using some tool, you'll still need to lay it out manually to get the best results.

Headus is pretty common, but expensive. Roadkill is free, but can be buggy. Even after using one, I'll always tweak it in Maya afterwards.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.

I 100% agree with NextDesign, I have used most of them but now use roadkill just to get the seams were I want them then use maya tools to finish...............dave

ND hit it on the head....no program will probably ever be able to interpolate UV positions perfectly, there will always be some manual tweaking. I have Roadkill but havent tried it yet as I am comfortable with Maya for the moment...as like ND and dave..I manually position anyways.

Right on guys.

I know there will be tweaking.. That's a given. Just looking for something better than mayas..

I have headus 2.0 just never grasped it. Because I found Maya's to be easier to use since its integrated but requires more work laying them out..

found tutorials On it so I'll start messing with it more now I guess

Thanks for the info!
