End of the world!

Why it's not going to happen

ScienceCasts: Why the World Didn't End Yesterday - YouTube

If by some chance NASA has got this one wrong i'd like to apologize to all the people that have signed up for a lifetime membership. In the event the world does end I'll be happy to offer a full refund.

All the best
Dave

... but of course THEY would say that. I note in the video that the narrator goes to great pains to say '... no KNOWN asteroid or comet is on a collision course with Earth.' ... what about an unknown one?

Can somebody PLEASE clarify WHAT bloody date we are all going to die? I have heard so many versions, taking into account leap year etc etc ad nauseum. I wont take the refund David but save me a seat beside the fire with a nice brew.

Mark the dinosaurs didnt worry about it, I dont think we should, Bruce Willis is just getting too old for asteroid killing LOL.

Cheers bullet

21st of this month. I don't think anyone who believes this is old enough to have learned about leap years.

Its a Calendar... Ours ends on December 31 each year then it starts again from the beginning on January the 1st. The Mayan Calendar just so happens to cycle thousands of years rather than just one.

Well thats my take on it anyways!

So uh. What timezone does this world ending stuff start in? It's been the 21st for a few hours now in Australia/New Zealand, and friends down there tell me things are fine user added image

Well, considering that it's the Mayan calendar that ends, I'd say that it would be sometime within 24 hours after Midnight tonight somewhere in Central America... (So around 16 hours from this post I guess)
