Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Recreating Tony Stark's suitcase armor

As the title says...

Trying to recreate the suitcase armor scene in Iron Man 2 with a dash of home video styled filming to it.
Here's what I have so far: render5 - YouTube

I need some critiques. I know there's a lot I can improve on. Check it out.

are you using an hdri image for reflectivity? I think that's the biggest standout for me

I'm using it to light the scene, so the answer is yes... it does have some influence on the reflectivity.

Are you using te mip rayswitch? Would help get better hdri results if not. Looks good though. Nice keyframing.

It's been a while, but here's an update.

No roto done yet, it's been kind of a pain getting the shaders right. As well as the animations aren't final. All renders are straight from Maya, no compositing has been done yet.
Any comments are welcome... preferably the kind I can use to make this thing better. user added image

Does not work? As in... you can't play it? Or you just don't like how it is?

Render a turn table so I can see the materials. Its the best way to check if they are too shiney or weird in some way. Then render a grey sphere and a chrome sphere. To check your environment and lighting. looks pretty cloudy which means there isnt much key lighting. might look better on a sunny evening.
To make it better I'd work on the materials and lighting. Try grading what you have but the shoulders stand out to me right now.

Question

I have a question, does anyone know how to open the plug-in's that are downloaded off of here in MAYA? I downloaded some and I can't find it to open.
