Steven Roselle, Senior Technical Specialist at Autodesk, reviews the new controller nodes that were added to Maya 2017. There are three main uses for the nodes; first off it allows for custom pick-walking which lets you build a rig so that an animator can step from one piece of the rig to another and bypass the Maya dependency graph. It also lets you quickly show and hide your rig objects. Finally it lets you tag your rig for parallel evaluation and GPU acceleration.
