Chaos has released a second update for V-ray 5 for Maya. The update extends USD support with the option to render USD lights and export V-Ray lights to USD. There’s a new feature in V-Ray Decal, which allows you to project textures onto the surface of a scene without the need to set up UVs for the mesh. Where the decal texture appears in the scene is controlled through a viewport gizmo that adjusts position, size, and angle. Other changes include improvements to V-Ray Dirt, V-RayNextHairMtl, and the V-ray Curvature texture, plus new sharpen/blur controls when editing images inside the V-Ray Frame Buffer. Maya users also get access to Chaos Cosmos, an online library of architectural assets.
