About Rigging

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am having a problem with rigging.

I smooth bind a character and start working on the bind with the paint skin weights tool. I get everything the way I want it and try to test it out, but the character is no longer bound to the skeleton.

I try to bind it again, but it says it is already bound and I can detach it.

I was just wondering if there is a reason this is happening. Any info would be great thanks!

When you smooth bound the character, did you bind the whole character to the selection or did you select diffrent parts using selected joints? Maybe there's a part of the character that you forgot to select when you detached it.

you might also want to check your skin weights again. Might have dumped them all. shrugs, just a guess.
